His art work is exhibited and collected throughout Asia, and he is now starting to show his work in the US. He uses traditional Chinese techniques and subjects but also has a modern aesthetic. He also does some beautiful Chinese calligraphy. We are so lucky to have him come to San Francisco and watch him paint a piece of artwork that will be donated to Hastings.
So come enjoy some beautiful art and FREE DIM SUM!! Dominique. As owner and operator of his nation's oldest and only free radio station, Dominique fought tirelessly against Haiti's overwhelming injustice, oppression, and poverty. He spent much of the 80's and early 90's in exile in New York, where Demme continued to interview him throughout the years. But it was Dominique's shocking and still-unsolved assassination in April of 2000 that gave the director the impetus to assemble more than a decade's worth of material into a celebration of this dynamic man and his legacy.

- 6:30: Hastings Race And Poverty Law Journal “CRASH” Film Screening @ Room A

Wednesday, March 22

- 10:40 – 1:30: APALSA Table @ The Beach
--Come by our Booth to buy some Delicious EGG TARTS and DIM SUM!!!!!!

- 10:40 – 1:30: MELSA Table @ The Beach

- 10:40 – 1:30: HAMLS Table @ The Beach

- 10:40 – 1:30: Hui ‘Ikepono Lei-A-Friend Table

- 2:40 - 4:30: BLSA Film Screening, "The Untold Story of Emmett Till" @ Room A
This film is a documentary investigating the murder and subsequent injustice surrounding Emmett Louis Till's death. Many consider this case to be the true catalyst for the American Civil Rights Movement. 14 year old Till was abducted, beaten and murdered for one of the oldest Southern taboos: addressing a white woman in public. The murderers were soon arrested but later acquitted of murder by an all white, all male jury. Till's death sparked the Black Resistance of the South which later became known as the American Civil Rights movement. Scholars and historians have studied the murder but the facts surrounding the case leave much to be revealed. In 2004 the Department of Justice reopened the investigation into the case...

- 3:40 – 4:30: Hastings Association of Muslim Law Students Presents "Islamic law, Free Speech, and the Politics of the Cartoon Protests", @ Room J
- Speaker: Dr. Hatem Bazian, Lecturer, Boalt Hall

- Free Food and Refreshments

- 3:40 – 5:30: ABA-LSD Literacy Fair, Clara Foltz Room
We are bringing in underprivileged children from the Tenderloin and
surrounding areas - showing them the importance and fun of reading.
Most importantly, we want them all going home with books at the
end of the day!
